• Candolim is the nearest beach that can be approached from the capital city of Panaji. Less built up than many in North Goa, its a trim enclave of well run hotels, friendly beach bars and simple beach huts offering good value refreshments. Candolim's best asset is its quiet, dune backed beach. A highlight are watersports such as Parasailing and Water Skiing.

• Cansaulim is a vast stretch of empty beach with beautiful golden coloured sand. One can see a lot of palm groves along the shore and a number of beach shacks that serve good tasty food and drinks. It is possible to buy anything from a meal to copper and brassware, furniture, clothes, toys, trinkets, sweetmeats, glass bangles and all sorts of spices.

• The tranquil beach of Benaulim has a calm and peaceful environment. Benaulim is one of the few places in Goa where one can glimpse traditional handicrafts. Best of all is the traditional Rosewood furniture that is made here. There is a quaint fishing village and The Church Of St John The Baptist is situated on a hill beyond the beach.

• Varca has one of the longest beaches in Goa. The 10 km beach is quiet and tranquil with a relaxed atmosphere. Traditional palm-thatched roofs behind the dunes are home to a local fishing community. There are numerous beach shacks offering a variety of Goan dishes and seafood at reasonable prices.

• Cavelossim is one of the most beautiful beaches in Goa. It is situated between the Sal River and the Arabian Sea with lovely views of paddy fields and the soft sandy beach. Dolphin-watching trips and sunset cruises are among the popular attractions. The area has developed into a village with lots of shops, bars and restaurants.
